'I like my things' - Series 4
I grew up in a very practical family and I couldn’t be less practical when it comes to spaces. I really like things that seemingly ‘have no need’ - I like objects, art, books, old CDs, trinkets and I like to see the stories they tell when they’re all together. My shelves are less about what I want other people to see, and more about what I want to remember and feel. I want to relax in a space that keeps me curious, comforted and inspired. It’s what life is about for me. This piece features the reoccurring sun motif on the roof and subtly in the rug.
This mini ceramic sculpture is approximately 9.5cm (H) x 6.3cm (D) x 7.5cm (W) and features 24 karat gold lustre accents. This piece has intentional crazing on the external walls as a characteristic of the glaze. This series contains one off sculptures that will not be replicated again in exactly the same way. Each piece is hand sculpted and glazed by Ashlee Bennett with care and precision over many hours.
